Short answer: we research first, and we only say “I used this” when it’s true. Here’s exactly how every recommendation on Hybrid Work Lab gets made, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
Three evidence levels, labeled honestly
Not every product on this site gets the same kind of scrutiny, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Every pick falls into one of three levels:
- Owned and used: products we personally own and use. These are the only ones where you’ll read first-hand impressions, and they are marked as such in the article.
- Researched: the large majority of picks. We read hundreds of verified buyer reviews (especially the 1–3 star ones), spec sheets, warranty terms, and return policies, then look for patterns that repeat. When we say a complaint is common, it’s because it kept showing up.
- Spec-only: when real owner feedback is thin or the product is brand new, we say so plainly instead of padding the review.
What we look at for every product
- Repeating complaints in low-star reviews, and whether the brand responds or fixes them
- Warranty length, what it actually covers, and how claims are described by owners
- Return window and who you buy from (the seller matters as much as the brand)
- Fit for hybrid work specifically: small spaces, dual monitors, video calls, all-day sitting
- How the product compares to the closest alternatives in the same category
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim we tested a product we haven’t touched.
- We don’t quote prices, because they change constantly. The “Check Price” buttons take you to the live listing.
- We don’t let commissions decide rankings. Picks are made from the research first; links come after.
- We don’t copy manufacturer marketing copy.
How we keep articles current
Each article shows an “Updated” date. We update it only after re-checking that the products are still available and the recommendations still hold. If a product is discontinued or its reviews turn bad, we replace it.
How we make money
